For S. Romina, education has always been more than just a profession—it is a tool for transformation. With years of experience in K-12 education, higher education, and adult learning across public and Catholic institutions, she has witnessed firsthand the power of education to challenge conventions and inspire change. Her journey has taken her across different states and countries, including the U.S.-Mexico border of El Paso and Juarez, New York, and Cincinnati, Ohio, where she has worked to foster understanding and connection across cultures.

Now serving as an associate director for the Leadership Collaborative, S. Romina sees this role as a natural extension of her passion and ministry. She is dedicated to supporting religious life and those who carry the charism forward, holding space for the evolving needs of the community. She is currently the convener for Hope 2025 in Rome, Italy, this June, a worldwide gathering for any Sister under 65 years to explore current and future realities of religious life. Her commitment to justice and transformation extends beyond ministry in religious life—it is interwoven with her deep concern for social justice and systemic change.

With a deep commitment to issues of diversity, race, and justice, S. Romina’s background in international and multicultural education informs her approach. She continually seeks ways to bridge divides, recognizing the universal longing for solidarity and love, especially among those on the margins. Through her work, she remains steadfast in her pursuit of truth and spirituality, embracing the Gospel call to justice and compassionate action.

This passion for justice also led her in November 2024 to participate in the Nuns on the Bus & Friends “Vote Our Future” tour. As part of this national effort, she met with communities to advocate for an inclusive, multiracial, multi-faith democracy while equipping people with the knowledge and motivation to vote. She also gave an inspiring speech at the kickoff rally in Philadelphia, sharing her motivation for joining the tour and highlighting how the issues championed by Network reflect a commitment to human dignity. “Valuing human life means investing in people’s development and well-being through education, health care, and safety, among other necessities, so that each person has the best chance to reach their full potential—no matter where they come from, the color of their skin, their gender identity, etc.”

Romina’s commitment to justice extends beyond election seasons. “There is still a war that the U.S. is funding, and we need to get our government to stop arming Israel, destroying lives, and causing unfathomable suffering. We still have an Earth that is hurting, and folks all around the globe are experiencing the devastating effects of global warming. We still have school shootings, a health care system that doesn’t serve all, and an education system that is struggling to educate students critically. There is work to do.”

Whether through education, advocacy, or direct service, S. Romina remains committed to fostering a world where justice and compassion prevail. With unwavering faith and a deep sense of purpose, her journey continues to challenge conventions, inspire action, and ignite hope for a more just and equitable future.
