Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph Continue Efforts for Earth with a Laudato Si Committee
The Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph (Maple Mount, KY) have made care for the Earth a hallmark of their ministry for more than 100 years.
Today, to comply with Pope Francis’ request to move forward with Laudato Si, the Sisters have formed a committee that has met four times to plan for the coming six years of environmental concerns.
They have reviewed the 10-year environmental audit of their Motherhouse that began in 1997, as well as their plans for buildings on campus.
The Sisters continue to recycle 3,000 pounds of office paper and other items each year, are engaged in ministries to ensure clean water and are known for their efforts in planting trees and lowering their carbon footprint.
