Lenten Ecology, Prayer, and Practice
As we approach the season of Lent, the CSJ St. Paul Earth Partners Working Group invites you to join us in prayer, reflection and action. Lent is a time to turn back to God, a time to re-awaken, a time to re-orient ourselves spiritually, a time to re-commit ourselves more deeply—a time for conversion. In his 2015 Encyclical Laudato Si’, Pope Francis calls us to Care for Our Common Home. He urges us towards “ecological conversion” and writes that “Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential…” (LS #217). The St. Paul Province Environmental Sustainability Plan Priority Areas are:
- Zero Waste,
- Carbon Reduction and Neutrality,
- and Education/Advocacy/Collaboration.
Beginning on Ash Wednesday (February 17) and then on each Monday during Lent, this page will feature the weekly prayer, reflection and action on ways to live more simply, to abstain from excessive consumption, to reduce our wastefulness, and to advocate for change. Join us!
