Poverty flows out of total dependence on God. It is living simply for the good of the world. Poverty is a vow of mutual sustainability, non-possessive ownership, responsible stewardship, care for created goods. We are meant to give our lives away to God’s people in generous service without being possessed by a desire to possess or consume, but to respect and interact with other creatures with care and gratitude.
