A reflection from Linda Romey, OSB, a member of Communicators for Women Religious and former chair of the Catholic Sisters Week planning group:

“Peace is central to Jesus’ message which means that it is also central to the life of women religious, and to all Christians. We take the opportunity during Catholic Sisters Week 2024 to remind ourselves that ‘peace must begin with me.’…

To be peace means to practice building up the courage that it takes to speak and act thoughtfully with greater frequency rather than respond on autopilot, especially at those times when we might feel fear, or be risking our reputation, or feel vulnerable. Jesus is the supermodel for peace. He did not mince words or worry about what others thought. Rather, he risked everything to change the world. He also paid a very high price for it.”
